VSP's doctor network for the Laser VisionCareSM Program is the largest available network nationwide and consists of participating VSP doctors, surgery centers and VSP-approved laser surgeons.
All VSP doctors must meet the following standards:
- A high level of additional training-Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agent (TPA) certification for VSP optometrists and American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO) certification for VSP ophthalmologists*
- Complete specialized instruction in laser vision correction
- VSP-approved laser surgeons must demonstrate requisite levels of surgical experience
- VSP has contracted with many of the country's premier surgeons specializing in refractive surgery. VSP surgeons average more than 1,700 procedures each**
- Be certified to use FDA-approved excimer laser
- Perform laser vision correction services using only VSP-approved equipment
- Offer 24-hour emergency patient access
- Maintain necessary professional liability insurance
