The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) requires health insurance carriers to meet a variety of regulations.
VSP complies with HIPAA requirements. We have a Regulatory Specialist who monitors each of the specific areas of Administrative Simplification, including Transactions, Privacy and Security. All HIPAA compliance efforts are under the leadership of VSP's Security and Privacy Officers.
VSP is dedicated to ensuring compliance with these regulations. We have complied with Privacy Transaction Rules, and Employer Identifier Rules, Security Rule and the National Provider Identification (NPI) rule.
